Westall 1966 – Close Encounter of UFO Seen by Over 200 People

The Westall UFO incident is a report of a UFO sighting that occurred on April 6, 1966, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. More than 200 students and teachers from two state schools allegedly witnessed the sighting of a UFO that landed in a nearby pine forest in an area known as the Grange (now a nature reserve).

At 11:20 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 1966, a class of students and a teacher at Westall High School in Australia claimed to be finishing a sports session when they saw a gray, saucer-shaped object with a slight purple tint and about twice the size of a car.

Andrew Greenwood, a professor of science, told the Australian newspaper Dandenong Journal that he saw a disc-shaped object that was greenish-silver in color.

According to witnesses, the object descended towards the college, then flew over the south-west corner of the college, heading south-east, before disappearing from view as it descended behind the woods in front of the school. After a short time (about 20 minutes), according to the students, it accelerated and flew away in a north-westerly direction.

The alleged sightings were investigated by two groups: the Victorian Flying Saur Research Society (VFSRS) and Phenomena Research Australia (PRA). Both groups have been described as one of the largest UFO sightings in Australia. The VFSRS team arrived in the city on 8 April and interviewed the students. One of the investigators, Brian Boyle (PRA), arrived at the scene on 9 April with four Army investigators. Boyle conducted a series of interviews, which he tape-recorded, over several days and collected samples of the track on the floor.

It should be noted that some witnesses reported seeing five aircraft in the vicinity of the object, and investigators were unable to find any records of such aircraft. The local airport, which is 4.76 km (southeast) from the school, stated that no aircraft had taken off from the airport or entered its airspace. The RAAF also reported no military activity in the area. Australian skeptics described the object as an experimental military aircraft.

– In addition, a 50-minute documentary titled “Westall ’66: The Suburban UFO Mystery” was broadcast on Australian television on June 4, 2010.
– On June 4, 2010, the Today Tonight television program produced a documentary about the case.
– It also appeared on Close Encounters.
– On January 21, 2016, the Studio 10 program broadcast a 17-minute report that included live interviews with witnesses who were children and students at the school at the time.

So the big question is:
– were the group of over 200 students and teachers subjected to a collective hallucination
– is this a deliberate, collective disinformation campaign by the Australian government aimed at ridiculing UFOs with the help of unwitting students
– did the incident, given that it was fairly well documented and witnesses were interviewed, really happen?

If we reject the impossible and unrealistic and stop insisting on the thesis that we are alone in the universe, we should allow for the possibility of the continuous, for centuries, presence of extraterrestrial beings, extraterrestrial flying vehicles on Earth, and we should take incidents of this type seriously.
