Lot, a biblical figure, was the son of Haran, who was the son of Terah, and Terah was also a father of Abram, later known as Abraham. Terah, his son Abraham, his nephew Lot and his family quit the Sumerian city of Ur and moved first to the city of Harran and then to Egypt. After a few years, they returned to Israel and separated, Abraham staying in Cannan and Lot in the Jordan Valley, near the city of Sodom.
The time thread from Lot’s life that I want to present takes place just before the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Today I do not intend to investigate the question of the destruction of both cities, but of Lot’s encounter with individuals who were not human.
Genesis 19:1
1 And the two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of the city. And seeing them, he rose up and went to meet them: and worshipped prostrate to the ground.
This part shows that Lot recognized the angels and worshiped them, knowing that THEY ARE NOT HUMAN.
Genesis 19:4-8
4 But before they went to bed, the men of the city beset the house, both young and old, all the people together.
5 And they called Lot, and said to him: Where are the men that came in to thee at night? bring them out hither, that we may know them:
6 Lot went out to them, and shut the door after him, and said:
7 Do not so, I beseech you, my brethren, do not commit this evil.
8 I have two daughters who, as yet, have not known man; I will bring them out to you, and abuse you them as it shall please you, so that you do no evil to these men, because they are come in under the shadow of my roof.
Lot was aware of seriousness of the situation, feeling that the evil and wicked people of Sodom simply wanted to lynch the two angels. Lot, in order to save the angels, was determined to offer his two young daughters, still virgins, to the populace of Sodom!
Genesis 19:10-11
10 And behold the men put out their hand, and drew in Lot unto them, and shut the door.
11 And them, that were without, they struck with blindness from the least to the greatest, so that they could not find the door.
This is an interesting example of use of unknown weapons by alien, unearthly visitors!
Genesis 19:12-13
12 And they said to Lot: Hast thou here any of thine? son in law, or sons, or daughters, all that are thine bring them out of this city:
13 For we will destroy this place, because their cry is grown loud before the Lord, who hath sent us to destroy them.
This fragment directly informs about the PLANNED ACT of destroying the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the order to destroy it has already been given and it cannot be reversed or stopped – they must hurry to get away to a safe distance from the place of destruction.
Genesis 19:24-25
24 And the Lord rained upon Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven.
25 And he destroyed these cities, and all the country about, all the inhabitants of the cities, and all things that spring from the earth.
The last fragment quoted today is very thought-provoking, suggesting use of an unknown, powerful weapon that destroys houses, cities, vegetation and kills people on a large scale.
There are three questions for today:
1. Who were the two strangers who warned and led Lot away, if not men? Were they representatives of other, more developed civilization?
2. If we assume that magic does not exist, what did these “angels” use to strike the people of Sodom, temporarily blinding them? Could it be a technologically unknown hand weapon?
3. The last question for today is: are the powerful weapons that destroyed buildings, plants, animals and people used in Sodom and Gomorrah nuclear weapons? This would also explain the “burning” of Lot’s wife…
Of course, as usual, I leave the interpretation and answers to each of you.
